Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, better known as "Il Sodoma," is one of the most representative figures of Sienese painting, with a style that transitions from the Renaissance to Mannerism. The influence of great masters such as Luca Signorelli and Raphael can be seen in his work, and he also practiced Leonardo's sfumato technique. In this Crucifixion, attributed to the painter by Dr. Italo Faldi, he drew inspiration from a model by Michelangelo to create the figure of Christ and the pair of angels who accompany him.
