The Victorian chatelaine is a decorative hook or brooch worn at the waist, from which a series of chains hang. Each chain contains useful household tools such as scissors, thimbles, watches, keys, a purse, and smelling salts. Silver chatelaine with Art Nouveau decorative motifs, a brass wax seal with a carved intaglio depicting a hound dog, a watch key (incomplete), and a small book with ornately decorated covers and a fine ivory interior.
