School of Mechelen, 17th century "Jesus' Entry into Jerusal

Pair of partially gilded alabaster reliefs. They are presented in substantial Baroque frames of carved and gilded wood decorated with flowers, rocaille motifs, and scallop shells. This pair of reliefs exemplifies the significant demand for Flemish art at the Spanish court in the 17th century. The frames, of Spanish manufacture, made in the first half of the 18th century, enhance the quality of the piece. They show some losses and restorations. Dimensions: 51 x 35 cm
