RANDOLFE BULL SILVER METAL WATCH 16TH CENTURY

Pocket watch signed by RANDOLFE BULL, a watchmaker and member of the Goldsmiths' Company since around 1580. Watchmaker to Queen Elizabeth I in 1591, he served until 1617, when he became Keeper of the Clock at the Palace of Westminster (England). He died in 1617. Oval silvered metal case with hinged lid and small sliding tab on the back for winding (accompanied by a key and chain). Gilt metal movement with abundant interior decoration. Dial profusely decorated with floral and fruit motifs, with a smooth ring on which the hours are engraved in Roman numerals separated by dots. Single blued metal arrow-shaped hand. In working order. Circa 16th century. Weight: 146.5g.
