PANTHERE DE CARTIER PENDANT - NB5202

Chain with pendant from the Panthère de CARTIER collection (NB5202) in 18kt yellow gold, brilliant-cut diamonds with an estimated total weight of 3.30 ct., black jade (nephrite) frame, two emerald eyes, and onyx details. The panther became part of the Cartier universe in 1914, when Louis Cartier commissioned a watch decorated with a spotted motif evoking its fur. It was Jeanne Toussaint, Creative Director of the Maison in the 1930s and nicknamed “La Panthère,” who made the feline the definitive symbol of the brand. In 1948, Cartier presented the first three-dimensional panther-shaped jewel: a brooch commissioned by the Duchess of Windsor. Since then, and continuing to the present day, the panther has evolved to become an emblem of freedom, elegance, power, and sophistication.
