MEXICAN GOLD CIGARETTE CASE 17TH AND 19TH CENTURIES

Mexican gold cigarette case from the 18th and 19th centuries. Louis XV style, with reserves and details of birds and floral motifs in tricolor gold, Mexican hallmarks inside the base. In the mid-18th century, at the height of the Baroque period, cigarette cases in the shape of small oval cans appeared in Mexico, a style that remained popular until the mid-19th century. Made of gold leaf with great precision, the lids have a concealed hinge that opens when a diamond-shaped mechanism is activated. Dimensions: 7.5 x 3.8 x 2.6 cm. Weight: 73.18 g.
