GERMAN MANUFACTURE (Late 19th - Early 20th Century) German violin

Includes fingerboard (or tuning peg) and two bows. Some parts have been replaced, such as pegs, bridge, and chin rest. Inside label: "Matteo Gofriller fecit/in Venetia 1735," Matteo Gofriller (1649-1752), an important Venetian luthier active between 1685 and 1735. Presented in a German case with serial number: DRGM No. 137266. Shows imperfections, signs of use, and wear. Enclosed is an envelope from The Rudolph Wurlitzer Co. (New York) and a card from M. Nebel & Bro. (New York) dated October 1931, corresponding to payment for various adjustments and replacement of parts made to the violin. Provenance: Private collection, Madrid. Measurements: 60 x 20.5 x 5.5 cm.
