ITALIAN SCHOOL (2nd Half of the 17th Century) "Penitent Mag

Oil on canvas. Provenance: Collection of the Duke of Medina de las Torres. On the back, there is a label from the Board of Seizure and Protection of Artistic Heritage. In the collection of the Duke of Medina de las Torres, this painting was associated as a "pendant" with a "Saint Catherine of Alexandria" (see lot 194), of which another version is held in the Museo Nacional del Prado (P000052) and which comes from the Royal Collection. This painting is currently attributed to the painter Benedetto Luti (1666-1724). Another, slightly smaller version of this Magdalene is also known, which has recently been on the market (Ansorena, auction 447, lot 600). Dimensions: 63 x 84.5 cm.
