Oil on canvas. Signed, located "Ferrol" and dated in the lower right corner. The canvas shows some minor damage. This painting, which accurately recreates the ships that participated in the attack and bombardment of the fortifications and city of El Callao on May 2, 1866, was painted by Ildefonso Sanz, a marine painter and naval physician, during his second posting in El Ferrol, between 1892 and 1894, just before departing again for the Philippines.
