Oil on canvas Signed in the lower left corner This work will be included in the catalogue raisonne of François-Auguste Biard's work currently in preparation. In 1834 the writer Georges Sand (1804-1876) published the novel "The Private Secretary" whose protagonist was Princess Quintilia Cavalcanti. Later, the engraver Henry Robinson (1796-1871) used this painting to make an engraving and include it in the 1843 book "Galerie des femmes de George Sand. Collection of 24 magnificent portraits engraved on steel by H. Robinson, after the tables of Madame Geefs..." using this work for the representation of Princess Cavalcanti.
