VICEREGAL SCHOOL (VICEROYALTY OF NEW SPAIN, MEXICO, 18TH CENTURY) "The Virgin of Guadalupe, the Sorrowful Mother and Our Lady of Cosamaloapan"

Oil on canvas. The work displays a rich iconography with a triple Marian devotion, presided over by Our Lady of Guadalupe, occupying the central space, with the Chichimec indigenous man Juan Diego in the lower register, recalling the event of her miraculous apparition. On the left is Our Lady of Sorrows, and on the right Our Lady of Cosamaloapan, who, according to tradition, arrived in that town in the state of Veracruz floating on the waters of the river. Measurements: 126 x 104 cm.
