SPANISH SCHOOL (18TH CENTURY) "Portrait of Toribio de Velasco"

Oil on panel. On the reverse, an old handwritten inscription: "Torivio Velasco founder / of [...] / born in San Pedro de Piñares / [...] / died 1730". Possibly idealized and inspired by representations of Saint Pascual Bailon, the portrait represents Toribio de Velasco, a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis and founder of the "Niños Toribios" of Seville, an association dedicated to the protection of orphaned and abandoned children. Exhibitions: On the reverse, an old, unidentified exhibition label is attached to the support. Measurements: 35 x 26 cm.
