CASTILIAN SCHOOL (Late 16th century) "Saint Jerome"

Carved and polychrome wood relief. Presented in a polychrome wood niche (with losses). It follows the Mannerist model that Jeronimo Hernandez created in 1565, influenced by Pietro Torrigiano, for the predella of the Altar of the Visitation in Seville Cathedral. It can also be related to a relief of the same subject and composition forming part of the main altarpiece of the church of Nuestra Senora la Blanca in Argoncillo (La Rioja).
