DAVID TENIERS II THE YOUNGER Antwerp, Belgium (1610) / Brus

Oil on canvas Signed lower right. There is a "Village Festival" North Carolina Museum of Art (no. 52.9.115, oil on canvas, 167 x 241 cm) catalogued as David Teniers the Younger and workshop (?) which probably formed a pair with the present work and which was in the collection of the Marquesses of Hastings since the 18th century, so the same provenance cannot be ruled out, nor can it have workshop intervention. Provenance: - American Art Association, New York, auction May 4-10, 1910, lot 98 (contributor: Charles Tyson Yerkes (1837 - 1905); purchased by W. Bank for $3,500 - Christie's, New York, “Important and fine old master paintings”, May 18, 1995, lot 132 (reproduced) - Millon Drouot-Richelieu, Paris, “Tableaux anciens, Orfèvrerie, Meubles et Objets d'Art, Tapis - Tapisseries”, June 18, 1997, lot 19 - Castellana auctions, Madrid, April 3, 2000, lot 62 - Private collection, Madrid Dimensions: 171 x 238 cm
