ZURBARAN'S WORKSHOP: MASTER OF SAINT HERMENEGILDO? (Active in Seville c. 1630-1640) "A Saint"

Oil on canvas. Zurbaran employed other painters to handle the numerous commissions he received in his workshop. One of them is the so-called Master of Saint Hermenegild, to whom a series of works are attributed that present numerous formal parallels with this saint. His models and technique allow us to relate him to one of the female models that appear in the painting of Saints Justa and Rufina, which, originally from the church of Saint Hermenegild, is now in a private French collection. Some documented painters who are candidates for being this unknown artist include: Jose Duran, Diego Muñoz, and Alonso de Flores. Dimensions: 52 x 44.5 cm.
