ATTRIBUTED TO JEAN RAOUX Montpellier, France (1677) / Paris, France (1734) “Childhood”

Oil on canvas Detail of the work “L'Enfance” which belonged to a series of four works on the ages of life and which was commissioned from Jean Raoux by Philippe de Vendôme, Grand Master of the Order of Malta. The series of the four ages was so successful that it earned him admission to the Royal Academy of Historical Painters and many replicas were made by his hand that were in the great collections of the second half of the 18th century. Jean Moyreau (1690-1762) engraved the series “Les quatres âges de la vie” around 1740. Measurements: 57 x 46 cm
