ANONYMOUS (19th century) "Virgin of the Miracle"

Oil on canvas with gilt metal frame. The work reproduces the icon painted by Paolo de San Leocadio and kept in the Monastery of the Descalzas Reales, which belonged to Leonor de Borja and came from the oratory of the ducal palace of Gandia. After her death, it was inherited by her sister, Sister Juana de la Cruz, a nun at the Convent of Santa Clara in Gandia, who brought it to Madrid upon becoming the first Abbess of that monastery.
