ANONYMOUS (18th century) "Portrait of a cloaked young man, Teodoro de Ardemans?"

Oil on canvas On the back, in the frame, there is a label from the Delegated Board of Seizure, Protection and Salvage of Art Treasures with inventory number "15468", provenance "CNT" and collection number "2169"; and a cloth label with the number 69. The San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts houses a similar work by Gines Andres de Aguirre (1727-1800) entitled “Portrait of a Cloaked Youth” (INV 0524; oil on canvas, ). This work was traditionally considered a copy of an original by Velazquez, but the 19th-century Academy inventories describe it as a copy of an original by the Madrid painter and architect Teodoro Ardemans (1661-1726), probably his self-portrait.
