This is a genuine personal treasure bringing together 69 original mixed-media drawings and collages, in watercolour, ink and colour gradients, of varying sizes, averaging approximately 20 x 15 cm. It is an entirely exceptional work summarising the artist's creative process. A direct gift from the artist to a private collector. The sketchbook (48 x 33 cm) is protected in a museum-quality display case. Alfredo Prior was one of the most prominent and versatile Argentine artists of the generation that emerged in the 1980s alongside creators such as Marcia Schvartz and Guillermo Kuitca, among others. He described himself as a neo-mannerist who combined a language halfway between narrative and symbolic figuration and a deep, colourist abstraction full of literary references, since Prior - himself a writer - cultivated the friendship of leading Argentine writers of the time such as Cesar Aira and Arturo Carrera. An orientalist, a scholar of Japanese culture and a student of ancient and contemporary myths, his work is today held in major collections and museums around the world. He ventured into performance and music and represented Argentina at the 18th Sao Paulo Biennial. Measurements: 47 x 62 x 11 cm
