ALFREDO PRIOR Buenos Aires (1952) / (2024) "Artist's Notebook"
This is a true personal gem, comprising 69 original mixed-media drawings and collages—watercolor, inks, and color gradients—in varying sizes, averaging approximately 20 x 15 cm. It is an absolutely exceptional work that encapsulates the artist's creative process. A direct donation from the artist to a private collector. The notebook (48 cm x 33 cm) is protected in a museum-quality display case. Alfredo Prior was one of the most prominent and multifaceted Argentine artists of the generation that emerged in the 1980s, alongside creators such as Marcia Schvartz and Guillermo Kuitca, among others. He defined himself as a neo-mannerist, combining a language that straddled narrative and symbolic figuration with a profound and colorful abstraction full of literary references. Prior, himself a writer, cultivated friendships with leading Argentine writers of the time, such as Cesar Aira and Arturo Carrera. An Orientalist, a scholar of Japan, and a student of ancient and contemporary myths, his work is now found in major collections and museums worldwide. He explored performance art and music and represented Argentina at the 18th São Paulo Biennial. Dimensions: 47 x 62 x 11 cm
