The Crown of Our Lady of the Pillar: An Exceptional Creation in Ansorena’s History

In 1905, Ansorena created the Crown of Our Lady of the Pillar, an extraordinary masterpiece of Spanish goldsmithing that reflects the House’s heritage, artistry and exceptional craftsmanship.

In 1905, Ansorena’s workshops undertook one of the most remarkable projects in Spanish religious goldsmithing: the creation of the Crown of Our Lady of the Pillar, an extraordinary piece that brings together art, tradition and exceptional craftsmanship.

Ansorena’s history is closely linked to some of the most significant commissions in Spanish jewellery. Among them, the Crown of Our Lady of the Pillar in Zaragoza holds a special place. Created in 1905 for her canonical coronation, it remains one of the most emblematic works associated with the House.

Conceived as a true work of art, the crown was crafted in gold and platinum and adorned with thousands of precious stones. Its creation required extraordinary expertise in goldsmithing, stone setting and jewellery-making, together with meticulous attention to every detail.

Ramiro García García Ansorena designed the ensemble comprising the crowns of the Virgin and the Christ Child, the halo and the radiant ornament. The work was completed in approximately 45 days and was made possible thanks to donations of jewellery from across Spain.

The creation of the Crown of Our Lady of the Pillar represents one of the most significant chapters in Ansorena’s history, alongside other prestigious commissions associated with the Spanish Royal Family.

At Ansorena, preserving this legacy also means keeping alive the values that have defined our House since 1845.
